Getting Divorced
Life changes like divorce can be overwhelming. As you navigate this transition, it’s important to consider your VyStar Benefits.
You have 30 days from your divorce date to drop your spouse and/or make changes to your VyStar benefits.
Within 30 days of divorce
- Review your VyStar benefits and drop or update your benefits coverage.
- Drop your former spouse from your VyStar benefits.
- Review your life insurance coverage and be sure to drop any spouse life and AD&D insurance.
- Newly elect/change a Flexible Spending Account.
- To make a change to your benefits following a Qualified Life Event, visit the Benefits and Pay Hub in Workday, select the Change Benefits tile, then click on “Divorce”.
- You will be required to submit supporting documentation of the Qualified Life Event within the event. The document must include a copy of the final divorce decree (first and last page only). Any former stepchildren would also need to be removed.
At any time
- While on the enrollment platform, update your beneficiaries for your life insurance to make sure your benefits are paid the way you want.
- If enrolled in ARAG legal insurance, consider creating or updating your will to drop your former spouse, if desired.
- Seek support for everyday challenges or serious issues through www.guidanceresources.com.
Step-by-step instructions can also be found in VyGuide under Making or Changing Your Benefit Elections, procedure.
